YCFDW gets "Honorable Mention at St. Patrick's Day Parade!!
Our entry in the York St. Patrick's Day Parade was awarded "Honorable Mention" as the "Best Decorated Vehicle (Non-commercial)". Nineteen people, including York Mayor C. Kim Bracey, walked with us and waved to the cheering crowd. A few photos are on the "News/Info" page and on our FaceBook page - York Dem Women. Mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, April 28, as Maria Payan shares her passion for protecting our communities and brings us up-to-date on what’s happening with, and to, our environment.

Maria Payan is one of the founding members, and the current Executive Director, of Peach Bottom Concerned Citizens Group (PBCCG). PBCCG’s mission is to encourage all citizens to educate themselves and become involved in all matters pertaining to quality of life issues.

Maria and the PBCCG are often called upon by communities facing environmental challenges such as industrialized animal production and the extraction of natural gas by hydraulic fracturing (‘fracking’) techniques. Together with PBCCG, Maria has been a leader in the fight against concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO’s) across Pennsylvania. She was among the organizers of the Occupy York movement, and she has been a critic of the newly passed legislation favoring gas drillers in the Marcellus Shale regions of the state.

Bring your friends, neighbors, and anyone you know who may be interested in learning more about how to help save our environment.
